Sound Therapy
The gong is a sacred instrument and I am honored to own and play one! This type of sound therapy is known as a gong bath. Much like a regular bath where you submerge into water, a gong bath is an inactive meditation where you are bathed in the healing vibrations of the sound of the gong.
You are encouraged to lay down, cover your eyes, get cozy, and relax as the beautiful gong is played. It brings on intense relaxation and can take you to a dreamlike state where you aren’t awake, but you also aren’t asleep.
My gong baths sometimes include crystal singing bowls, Tibetan singing bowls, drums, rattles or anything else I am called to use.
I first experienced sound healing in 2015 at my first music festival. A neighbor camper came to our camp and asked if anyone wanted a sound bath. I had no clue what he was talking about, but I went into the weekend with an open mind and a “yes” attitude. I said ok. My life was forever changed after that moment.
